Mountains Zillertal Alps

The Zillertal Alps (German: Zillertaler Alpen) are characterised by significant glaciation. Most of the mountains lie in Austria, but it also extends into Italy in the southern part. The western part of the mountain range is marked by the important Brenner road saddle. The highest peaks of the mountain range lie in the main ridge of the Zillertaler Hauptkamm.

The most important valley of the mountain range is the Zillertal. This divides into several other deep valleys near the tourist resort of Mayrhofen, which lead into the interior of the mountains. There are also several important hydroelectric dams in the mountains, built to generate hydroelectric power.
