Parking near the garage in Zruč nad Sázavou. It is located near the river Sázava in the lower part of the town.
The Babka lookout tower can be reached from Zruč nad Sázavou in a moment. Since the weather was beautiful, I decided to take a small sightseeing trip. I left my car near the Sázava river near the garage. After a short stretch on the state road, I soon turned onto a forest road. Following this wide path, which goes around the Pardidub stream, I started to climb up to the lookout tower. The path, although not marked, was wide and was comfortable to walk on. The climb is gentle at first, but in the second part it becomes more intense. Eventually I joined the green hiking trail. This also leads along a wide path and I eventually followed it to the lookout tower.
It offers a nice view of the surrounding countryside, including the Švihov reservoir. From the lookout tower, I returned a bit along the same path, but then I took the direction directly to Zruč nad Sázavou. First I walked along the dirt road to the cemetery. Then I followed the trail to the first houses in town. After that, it was enough to walk to the parking lot of the garage.
A very simple route with no problems. Although part of it is on an unmarked forest path, it is wide and clear. Of course, there is some elevation to overcome, but even that is small. The ascent on the route is gradual. The route is ideal for children or dogs.
The climb up to the lookout tower goes around a small stream, but I did not test the water quality. The route is short, just 1 liter of liquids per person.
The lookout tower stands on a hill at 450 m above sea level, but I am not sure if it is an official hill. However, the circular view of the surroundings is nice.
The route is absolutely safe, as well as the tower itself. You walk along wide forest paths all the time, there is no problem.
As this is a short trip, some snacks will suffice. There is no pub or refreshments on the road or at the lookout tower.
The Babka lookout tower is located about 2 km from Zruč nad Sázavou on a hill 450 m above sea level. After the wind calamity in 2008, an ideal place for the tower was created. It was opened in 2016. The tower has a wooden and steel construction. It is 27 metres high, the viewing platform is 24 metres high. The tower is freely accessible all year round.
