Trip from Koryčany to Cimburk Castle

Starting point

Parking lot at the football stadium in Koryčany. Parking is free of charge.

Description of the hike

From the parking lot at the football stadium we walked back towards the town and joined the green tourist sign. We followed it and started to climb up into the forest behind the town. The trail leads in a cottage colony. In the woods, we joined a wide forest path and kept climbing gently. The climb is not steep, but it is quite long. Eventually we reached the Vršava hut. Here the landscape changed and there were beautiful meadows around us with views of the surrounding area. We descended slightly from Vršava and continued to Pečínka Rock. After exploring this rock formation we continued our gentle descent to the stream. The path was complicated by fallen trees after recent rains and high winds. From the stream we climbed steeply up a wide path and followed it to Cimburk Castle. The tour is unguided, but well worth it. It is a beautiful ruin.

After a little refreshment we started to return. We were a bit pressed for time, so we tried the fastest way. Right from the castle we descended to the Koryčany water reservoir. We started to go back along the road. Unfortunately, there were strangely a lot of cars driving around, so we soon disconnected and followed the forest path back to the green hiking trail. We followed it back to the town of Koryčany.
