The Maramureș Mountains (Romanian: Maramureș) are located on the border with Ukraine in northern Romania. Except for the summits, the mountain is mostly forested. The ridges are bare and flat. They provide beautiful views.
The mountains used to be part of the military zone, so they are sparsely populated and still look very wild. There are no tourist huts here. The highest mountain of the Farcaul mountain range is not on the main ridge but on the southern side range.
