The Karwendel is a beautiful limestone mountain range that lies partly in Germany. Most of it lies in Austria. The southern border of the mountain range forms a beautiful backdrop to the city of Innsbruck. The mountain range is very heterogeneous and consists of many mountain ranges separated by beautiful grassy valleys.
The highest part of the mountain range is located right in the middle of the mountain range, in the Karwendelkette. Here lies the highest mountain, Birkkarspitze. The mountain range is also criss-crossed by a system of roads, which is why it is also popular with cyclists.
