Paid parking - 5 Euro for 3 hours at the cottage Koča pri Savici. It is located west of Lake Bohinj.
Savica Waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls in Slovenia. We originally wanted to take a longer hike to it from Lake Bohinj. However, a strong storm at night uprooted many trees in the area and we didn't want to risk walking in the forest. Even so, the road crew had to clear a lot of fallen trees from the road.
After paying the 5 Euro fee at the lodge, we walked along the wide path to the waterfall. After a few dozen meters we came to a toll booth. Here we again paid for the entrance. Adults 4 Euros, child over 6 years 2 Euros. We crossed the bridge over the Velika Savica and started climbing through the forest. Almost all the way up there are steps to make walking easier. The path rises above the Savica River. There are also limited views along the way towards Lake Bohinj. The Savica waterfall is very famous and so the crowds of people walked with us. Which was not very pleasant. Eventually we reached the shelter at the waterfall. The view is really beautiful. After taking the necessary photos of the waterfall and a short rest, we returned the same way back to the car.
Technically a very simple trip. Basically it is a short climb to the waterfall through the forest. The ascent is facilitated by a large number of steps. Ideal for families with children.
You can refill your fluids at the huts by the car park or in the refreshment area at the entrance to the paid section of the route.
The trail goes under the main mountain ridge, there is no peak on the trail. The views are sometimes towards Lake Bohinj.
This is a simple trip. The whole time you walk along a forest path, often complete with stairs. There are railings everywhere in the narrower places or in places on the deep abyss. There is no danger anywhere. Access to the waterfall is forbidden, there is an iron gate.
The cottages with restaurant are at the beginning of the paid parking lot. Otherwise you just need a small snack or some bars. The trail is very short.
