Paid parking behind the exit from Nové Hrady towards Horní Stropnice. Parking costs 50Kč/day for a car.
From the car park, which was completely full, we set off along a wide path towards the valley. The trail soon turned left, however, and we climbed steeply up the meadow to the forest. At the forest boundary, the climb stopped and we continued on along the forest path past the Swiss House and the pond. We descended slightly into the valley and continued along the meadow towards the Cukštejn fortress. There is again a slight climb in front of it, but nothing dramatic.
At the fortress we turned and gently returned towards the valley. After entering the forest, we found ourselves on a trail that led us above the Tercina valley and we could see the Stropnica River below us and the crowds of tourists walking along the river. After about 1 km, the trail started to descend to the river and we crossed the Stropnica River on a bridge.
We made a 180 degree turn and followed the river downstream on a wide path to the Stropnicka waterfall. Along the river we continued past the ruins of the former Blue House and reached the Tereza's Lázničky restaurant. Here we had a nice treat. After a rest we continued along the wide path through the valley, which eventually led us back to the car park.
A very easy and relaxing trip in a pleasant environment. Ideal for families with children or dogs. Although there are some climbs along the route - at the beginning of the route and then to the fortress Cukštejn, but it is nothing difficult. The whole time you walk along forest paths or wide roads.
Liquids can be replenished in restaurants along the way - Tereziina Lázničky and Hamr.
The route, as its name suggests, does not lead over any peak, but instead partly in the valley of the Stropnice River. The views of the surroundings are offered only by passages along the meadows.
The route is safe, even small children can manage it. There is no problem. It is only necessary to avoid cyclists or possibly horse riders.
Good food is possible in the restaurant Tereziina Lázničky - tried. Another option is the Hamr restaurant.
The Tereza ( Terčino) Valley Landscape Park was established in 1756 thanks to Countess Therese Buquoy. The site was formerly used as a pheasant farm by the local nobility. Gradually, buildings were built in the park - the Spa or the Blue House. Only the ruins of the latter remain, as it was destroyed by a flood in 1915.
An artificial waterfall 20 metres high was also built in the park, which feeds an artificial reservoir. On the outskirts of the park lies the Cukštejn Fortress. A nature trail runs through the park. Since 1949 the park has been declared a national natural monument.
