Parking is free in the village of Pernink.
We left Pernink a little after lunch. We wanted to walk the route in daylight, which we did not manage to do thanks to a short stop in a pub in Horní Blatná.
From Pernink we set off along a snow-covered path along the stream on an unmarked wide path. Soon we crossed the stream on a bridge and continued slightly uphill on a flat forest path along the so-called Devil's Path. After a few hundred metres we joined the green hiking trail. We followed it until we reached the red trail, which turns directly to the summit and the lookout tower. From the crossroads it is slightly uphill and after a few hundred metres we were on the top of Blatenský vrch.
The lookout tower was closed, which we knew. Our destination was the buffet at the lookout tower. It was open so we had a grog to warm up. After a short rest we started to descend the hill. The route goes along the Wolf Pits. Soon we reached the village of Horní Blatná. Although we hadn't originally planned it, we ended up stopping here for another grog in a pub on the square. This delayed us, so it was clear that we would not reach Pernink in daylight. Fortunately, it is not far from Horní Blatná. At dusk we set off along the yellow trail. We thought that the road would be just downhill, but in the end we had one more short climb on a snow-covered dirt road. Then it was the final descent to the village of Pernink.
A simple winter trip. The whole time you walk along wide forest paths or trails. Difficulty depends on the amount and quality of snow. We had a good time, there was not much snow. The elevation is also not great.
Refreshments are available at the top of Blatenský vrch (Blatenský Hill) and then in the village of Horní Blatná and also in the village of Pernink.
We had accommodation in Pernink. There are of course also possibilities in the village of Horní Blatná.
The Blatenský vrch lookout tower offers a beautiful view of a large part of the Ore Mountains and their surroundings in good weather. We had the tower closed, so we only had views of the immediate surroundings.
The route is very simple. The snow made it a bit difficult for us, but there wasn't much of it, so it went quite well. The whole route is on wide roads. There are wooden railings around the Wolf Pits, so there is no danger here either.
The main goal was not the lookout tower on Blatenský vrch, but the refreshment just below it. It was open. Apart from drinks, they also have food like sausages, burgers or fries. Another option to eat is the pub in Horní Blatná.
